README - MacEEP 1.01 July 14, 1996
This application is a Macintosh™ driver for the EEP-1 EEPROM programmer
described in the November 1995 issue of Electronics Now, page 37. In
addition to downloading binary files to the programmer, it has
facilities to upload programs from an EEPROM to a file, and create a
binary file from either an Intel Hex file or a Motorola™ S19 record. The
binary can then be downloaded to an EEPROM. MacEEP requires System 7.0X
or later.
Included with the application are three object code files, X8031EEP.OBJ,
LED1.OBJ, and LED2.OBJ. These are in Intel Hex record format. MacEEP
can be used to create a binary for downloading into an EEPROM. X8031.OBJ
is the object code 8031 control program that operates the EEP-1.
LED1.OBJ and LED2.OBJ are two 8031/8051 programs that flash the LED on
the EEP-1 and are described in the Electronics Now article. X8031.OBJ,
LED1.OBJ and LED2.OBJ are included with the permission of G.Y. Xu.
MacEEP is shareware, and subject to the enclosed license agreement.
Users who decide to keep the software are asked to pay a $10
registration fee. While it won't send me to the poorhouse if users
don't remit the shareware fee, payment does provide some feedback as to
the interest in the application, and thereby provides some incentive to
make improvements in it. As a user of shareware, I have mixed feelings
about the concept myself. For that reason, I have set the registration
fee at what I believe is essentially a nominal sum. The total cost
together with that of the EEP-1 hardware, is still reasonably low for a
Mac capable EEPROM programmer.
The sharware fee should be sent to:
